FT/ Director of Public Events:

Responsibilities: Director will manage the tactical implementation of all public events at Thanksgiving Point in close collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer, other staff members and partner organizations. Will develop events that facilitate the educational mission and meet the financial goals of Thanksgiving Point. Will be responsible alongside the Chief Marketing Officer to manage department budget, hire and train staff, recruit and engage partner organizations, and secure and manage effective relationships with vendors, sponsors, exhibitors, and presenters. Will also motivate event staff and coordinate with Volunteer Manager to utilize volunteers. Create a collateral production strategy and timeline to ensure successful event execution. Administer, collect and analyze evaluative data for all events and suggest and implement ongoing improvements. Ensure effective follow-up after each event including continuing cultivation of event sponsors and partners.
Requirements: A qualified candidate will have demonstrated success managing all aspects of large-scale events and managing several events simultaneously. Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills and have the ability to create systems and use technology effectively. Experience working with sponsors and donors. Strong leadership skills and managerial experience with the ability to make decisions under pressure. Must have a positive attitude with the ability to deal with stressful situations, relationships, and individuals using professional judgment and tact. Must have strong interpersonal and written communication skills, be self directed and motivated with the ability to multi-task. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Shifts: This is a full time salaried position. At least 40 hours a week. Includes a benefit package.
